키다리 갤러리는 크리스마스 기획전 'RED BOX 2025'를 12월 6일부터 12월 27일까지 개최한다. 이 전시는 12월 크리스마스 시즌을 맞이하여 한 해 동안 감사한 분들께 보답하는 마음을 작은 그림으로 대신하여 선물할 수 있도록 키다리 갤러리가 매년 마련하는 소품전이며, 'RED BOX'는 그런 마음의 선물이 담긴 산타클로스의 선물 보따리를 의미한다.

올해 전시에는 김민송 작가, 양종용 작가, 성태진 작가, 안윤모 작가가 참여하는 4인전으로 진행된다. 

4명의 작가들은 저마다 개성이 돋보이는 대표작들을 10호 이하의 소품작으로 구성하여 총 15점의 작품들을 전시한다.

키다리 갤러리의 신진작가 공모전인 키똑전 출신의 김민송 작가는 일상 사물과 여행에서 얻은 대자연의 기억을 현실과 평행한 판타지 세계로 표현한다. 끊임없이 변하는 삶에서 자연의 아름다움에 주목하며, 관객에게 경이로운 경험을 선사하고 있다. 작가는 사막, 바다, 식물 등 자연 풍경을 소재로 하며, 기억을 삶의 실체로 보고 영원히 지속되지 못하는 순간들을 기록하는데 중점을 둔다. 몽환적인 밤 풍경과 아스라한 빛은 꿈과 현실이 교차하는 기억의 순간들을 표현하는 것이며 작업에서 어둠은 실체를 감추고 상상력을 자극하여 낯선 감정을 불러일으키는 역할을 한다. 작가는 이 낯선 어둠 속에서 기억과 망각이 집합하는 소재들을 조합해 찰나의 순간을 포착하여 표현한다. 김민송 작가의 작품은 기억과 감정이 들어간 내면의 공간이자 영원한 풍경을 표현하는 것이다.

판화를 전공한 성태진 작가는 유년시절의 영웅 캐릭터인 태권브이를 현대인의 모습에 투영해 현대인의 삶에 대한 탐구를 하는 작업을 한다. 대중적인 소재와 독창적인 기법을 통해서 현대를 살아가는 평범한 이들에게 깊은 공감과 위로의 전한다. 평범한 삶을 살아가는 현대인의 모습을 태권브이로 표현함으로써 꿈이 사라진 청년 백수의 무기력을 다루고 인간적인 희망과 믿음의 메시지를 전달하고자 한다. 또한 작가는 태권브이를 내세워 자신의 다소 심각한 현재를 기존의 심각한 예술과는 거리가 먼 방식으로 유쾌하게 표현하고 있다. 작가의 작품 제작 방식 또한 독특한데, 나무판에 그림과 글을 조각칼로 파내는 전통적인 판화 기법을 사용하지만, 그 위에 화려한 색상의 물감을 바로 채색한다. 이는 기존 판화 작업과 달리 나무판 자체에 작가 개인의 염원을 새긴 단 하나의 작품으로 완성된다.

안윤모 작가는 일상의 따뜻한 순간들을 다양한 동물들을 통해 작품에 풀어낸다. 그림 속 동물들은 자연과 함께 살아가는 인간의 모습을 투영하며 고요하고 평온한 순간들을 작품에 담아낸다. 

작가의 작품은 행복을 느끼는 순간이 언제인지에 대한 질문에서 시작되고 있으며, 진정한 행복에 대해 끊임없이 탐구하는 작업을 이어가고 있다. 

안윤모 작가는 평범하고 소소한 일상에서 충분히 행복을 느낄 수 있다고 말하는데, 이것은 외부의 힘이 아닌 스스로 몰입되며 느낄 수 있는 경험들을 보여주는 것이며, 이런 순간들을 캔버스 위에 부엉이로 형상화하여 작가가 느끼는 행복의 경험을 관객과 나누고자 한다.

양종용 작가는 일상에서 사용되는 인공물과 자연물인 이끼의 결합을 통해, 우리의 삶을 이루는 수많은 관계에서 자연스럽게 삶을 살아가고자 하는 소망을 담고 있다. 작가는 살아있다는 것은 다양한 관계 안에 속해 있다고 말한다. 작품의 핵심 소재 중 하나인 이끼는 높게 자라지 않고 넓게 펼쳐지는데 이 모습이 공간에 존재하는 모든 것들을 보듬듯 덮어주며 관계를 연결하는 듯한 모습을 보여주는데, 작가는 이런 이끼의 특성에서 조화롭고 자연스럽게 살아가는 삶의 방식을 발견했다. 작가의 사실적인 붓터치와 초현실적인 구성을 통해서 인간애와 치유의 매세지를 전달하며 삶의 모든 관계에서 조화롭고 자연스러움을 찾고자 하는 작업을 이어가는 것과 동시에 자기성찰의 의미를 담아내고 있다.

KIDARI GALLERY will host its Christmas exhibition ‘RED BOX 2025’ from December 6th to December 27th. This exhibition is an annual small-scale works show organized by KIDARI GALLERY to allow visitors to express gratitude to those they appreciate throughout the year by gifting small paintings instead of larger presents. ‘RED BOX’ symbolizes Santa Claus's gift bundle filled with such heartfelt gifts.

This year's exhibition features a group show by four artists: Kim Min-song, Yang Jong-yong, Seong Tae-jin, and Ahn Yun-mo. 

The four artists will exhibit a total of 15 works, each composed of representative pieces showcasing their distinct personalities, all in small formats of number 10 canvas or smaller.

Kim Min-song, an artist who debuted through Kiddok Exhibition, KIDARI GALLERY's emerging artist competition, expresses memories of everyday objects and the vast natural world encountered during travels as a fantasy world parallel to reality. Focusing on nature's beauty amidst life's constant flux, she offers viewers a sense of wonder. Using natural landscapes like deserts, oceans, and plants as subjects, the artist views memory as the essence of life and focuses on documenting fleeting moments that cannot

last forever. Dreamlike nightscapes and faint light express moments of memory where dreams and reality intersect. In her work, darkness conceals substance, stimulates imagination, and evokes unfamiliar emotions. Within this unfamiliar darkness, the artist combines materials where memory and oblivion converge, capturing and expressing fleeting moments. Kim Min-song's work represents an inner space imbued with memory and emotion, expressing an eternal landscape.

Artist Seong Tae-jin, who majored in printmaking, projects the childhood hero character Taekwon V onto the image of modern people to explore contemporary life. Through popular subject matter and original techniques, he conveys deep empathy and comfort to ordinary individuals navigating modern existence. By portraying the lives of ordinary modern people through Taekwon V, he addresses the apathy of young unemployed people whose dreams have faded, aiming to deliver a message of human hope and faith. Furthermore, the artist uses Taekwon V to express his own somewhat serious present in a cheerful manner, far removed from conventional serious art. His production method is also unique: while employing the traditional printmaking technique of carving images and text into woodblocks with a carving, he directly applies vibrantly colored paint over the carvings. Unlike conventional prints, this results in a single, unique work where the artist's personal aspirations are carved directly into the woodblock itself.

Artist Ahn Yun-mo captures warm moments of everyday life through various animals in his work. The animals in his paintings reflect humanity living alongside nature, conveying quiet and peaceful moments within his art. 

The artist's work begins with the question of when we feel happiness, continuing an ongoing exploration of what constitutes true happiness.

Ahn Yun-mo asserts that happiness can be fully felt within ordinary, small daily moments. This represents experiences felt through self-immersion, not external forces. By embodying these moments on canvas as owls, the artist seeks to share their experience of happiness with the audience.

Artist Yang Jong-yong expresses the desire to live life naturally within the myriad relationships that compose our existence, through the combination of artifacts and the natural element of moss. The artist states that being alive means belonging within diverse relationships. Moss, one of the core materials in his work, does not grow tall but spreads widely. This form seems to embrace and cover everything in the space, connecting relationships. The artist discovered a harmonious and natural way of life within this characteristic of moss. Through the artist's realistic brushwork and surreal compositions, the work conveys messages of human compassion and healing. It continues the pursuit of harmony and naturalness within all life's relationships while simultaneously embodying the meaning of self-reflection.
